Lost Property Policy

At Holmeswood Coaches, we understand that passengers may occasionally leave belongings behind during their journey.

We are committed to helping reunite lost property with its rightful owners wherever possible.

Please read our policy below for guidance.

1. Reporting Lost Property

If you believe you’ve left something on one of our coaches, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and provide the following details:

  • Date and time of travel.

  • Departure and destination locations.

  • Coach registration number (if known).

  • A clear description of the item.

To report lost property, please visit our Contact Us page. There you'll find phone numbers for each of our depots, or you can use the general enquiry form to send us the details.

Please call ahead to confirm the location of your item and arrange a convenient time for collection.

If we have found your lost property it may be stored at and collected from one of our depots, depending on where the item was found or which journey it was on.

Our depot locations include:

  • Holmeswood - Head Office

  • Leyland Depot

  • Congleton Depot (Bostock's)

  • Northwich Depot (Walker's)

  • Blackburn Depot (Aspden's)

2. How Long We Keep Lost Property

We keep lost property for the following durations:

  • Valuable items (phones, wallets, electronics, etc.) - Up to 3 months

  • Clothing, books, umbrellas, etc. - Up to 1 month

  • Perishable or unhygienic items - 24–48 hours

3. Collecting Lost Property

To collect an item, you’ll need:

  • A detailed description of the item

  • Proof of identity

  • Details of your journey

There is no fee to collect items, but postage or courier costs (if requested) must be covered by the recipient.

4. Items We Cannot Keep

We are unable to store or return:

  • Food and drink

  • Perishable or hazardous items

  • Items that pose a health or safety risk

  • Illegal or suspicious items (these may be handed to the police)

Unclaimed Property

After the retention period, unclaimed items will be:

  • Donated to local charities (where suitable)

  • Responsibly disposed of or recycled

  • Sensitive documents (e.g. passports, bank cards) will be returned to the relevant authority or securely destroyed.

Data and Privacy

Any personal data found with lost property is handled in accordance with UK GDPR regulations. We will take appropriate steps to protect personal information.
